  • Position Purpose

    This position is responsible for maintaining the operation of all electrical and mechanical operating equipment.

    Key Accountabilities

    To ensure all equipment operates safely and all plant GMP standards are met.

    Responsibilities

  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • Provides mechanical support to all departments within the facility
  • Prevent premature breakdown of the equipment used in production and to operate the facility through continual preventative maintenance
  • Ensure a safe work environment through effective maintenance of equipment
  • Correct unsafe working conditions
  • Trouble shoot any mechanical breakdown in the production process to ensure minimal loss in manufacturing of our products
  • Assist in the installation of any new equipment in the facility
  • Work together with all other departments to ensure a productive team environment and the continuous improvement of the plant processes
  • Report any concerns and / or problems to supervisor through daily written and verbal reporting
  • Understands the mechanics of our facilities processing and packaging equipment and is able to maintain it
  • Ensure equipment operating, designed and installed to required GMP standards
  • Proper housekeeping. Clean up after work completed
  • Provide shift report to include parts used downtime and root cause analyses
  • Take part as an active member of continuous improvement teams
  • Adhere to all applicable job procedures as outlined in SOP manual
  • Adhere to GMP’s and Health and safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
  • Keep work area clean and clear of hazards
  • Report any unsafe conditions, incidents or injuries to Supervisor immediately
  • Use all prescribed personal protective equipment
  • Ensure GMP’s and safe food handling practices are being followed
  • All tools to be cleaned and maintained in good repair. Report any broken, damaged, or missing tools to your supervisor.
  • Do not discard any damaged or broken tools.

  • Follow all GMPs including maintaining personal hygiene, handwashing / sanitizing hands, clean up spills (ie : ingredients, water, debris and wood)
  • Report any foreign material findings to your supervisor
  • As part of food security, report any unusual people or behaviours to your supervisor
  • Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Good mechanical aptitude and dexterity - detail oriented

  • Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level

    Required

  • Must hold a valid license, or proof of license from any province or country
  • If holds over 10 years experience in the trade, it will be up to the discretion of the company to make
  • Preferred

  • Certificate of Qualifications, Ontario Industrial Mechanic Millwright

  • The majority of work in the bakery requires employees to stand on their feet for the entire 8-12 hour shift

  • ARYZTA Limited is a 24 hour / 7 day manufacturing operation
  • The temperature of the environment within the production area can range from 58 - 80 degrees fahrenheit depending on the department
  • The production areas are often loud, exceeding 85 decibels, due to the machinery that is running; earplugs are required to be worn while in the bakery at all times
  • Depending on postion, some employees may be exposed to dust; dust masks and respirators are available if required
