Summary :

The Risk Analyst will play an instrumental role in the delivery of the annual Enterprise Risk Management program by conducting regional and divisional assessments, aggregating results, and facilitating the communication and reporting of top enterprise risks and mitigation strategies to leadership.

This individual will drive exceptional results through meaningful analytics, standardized risk frameworks, and performing a variety of financial, operational, and regulatory assessments to inform Parkland’s top enterprise risks and commercial risks.

The Risk Analyst should expect to assist in the delivery of the Work both as an effective team member or leader, partnering with other internal auditors, analysts, and co-source partners, and as a sole contributor.

In addition to specific responsibilities relating to the delivery of the annual Enterprise Risk Management program and as a member of Parkland’s Risk and Control function, the successful candidate will also gain exposure to wider risk management functions, including : C-Sox, Internal Audits, Vendor Audits and Investigations.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead the execution of Parkland’s Enterprise Risk Management program, including; the identification of risks and opportunities throughout the organization, developing, reporting and monitoring formats on risk management issues and developing methodologies for the assessment of risks throughout the organization.
  • Develop, maintain, and continually improve key aspects of the Enterprise Risk Management program, including : Enterprise risk reporting to Senior Leadership and the BoardRisk appetiteRisk identification and measurementEnterprise issue management and mitigation strategiesRisk assessment MethodologyEmerging risk
  • Perform audit projects including detailed risk assessments, development of audit scope and objectives, development and execution of audit programs, identification of process improvements, and documentation of audit observations.
  • Present audit and assessment reports to management at various levels and obtain action plans that address identified business risks and opportunities;
  • Follow-up with management to ensure timely remediation of identified risks and implementation of management action plans;
  • Operate as a business partner, supporting process and control owners to implement best practices and improve control efficiency while maintaining effectiveness.
  • Qualifications and Skills :

  • University degree in business, accounting, finance or a related field;
  • Professional designation (CPA, CIA, CISA and / or CFE); equivalent combination of education and work experience would also be considered;
  • Financial and non-financial risk experience, understanding concepts of risk appetite, risk identification, risk factor correlation, risk event decomposition and cross-risk impact;
  • Minimum 6 to 8 years of risk management and / or internal or external auditing experience, including 4 years of Enterprise Risk Management experience;
  • Excellent communication, teamworking skills and a desire to work in a high-performing team;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to build strong relationships within the team as well as within the business;
  • Strong analytical and computer skills preferably PowerBI, JDE, Great Plains, Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to multitask under strict deadlines;
  • While travel is not a core requirement, willingness to visit Parkland locations across Canada, US and the Caribbean is an asset.
