Overview :

Our Client is seeking a full-time contract role as a DITA Information Architect to assist a team of experienced tech writers in an enterprise environment to guide the team, build tools and framework, organize, publish, store, retain and retire information.

Things you need to have :

  • University degree in any area of study and Technical Communications certificate
  • 10+ years of technical communications experience in an engineering, IT, or technical environment
  • Demonstrated information architecture experience in structured authoring or DITA
  • Deep knowledge and experience working within a component CMS (Ixiasoft DITA CMS preferred) and XML editor (oXygen preferred)
  • Familiarity with the DITA Open Toolkit, DTD, XSL-FO
  • Experience configuring DITA publishing tools and DITA OT plugin development is preferred
  • Familiarity with user experience and usability principles
  • Expert editorial, grammar, and structured authoring knowledge
  • Experience producing content across multiple channels
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a sharing, supporting team environment
  • What you will be doing :

  • Work closely with engineers to create, update, and publish technical manuals, documents, and communications to support daily Engineering operations.
  • Develop and enhance standards and processes for creating, publishing, reviewing, approving, and managing technical content and source files within the CM team.
  • Perform information architecture duties and needs analysis to ensure alignment of technical content with business needs.
  • Perform current state, audience, and data analysis to develop content strategies, pinpoint content gaps, and identify opportunities for content reuse and process efficiencies.
  • Support and maintain authoring tools, workflows, templates, and content models for effective content creation and delivery.
  • Recommend and develop DITA authoring, publishing, reuse, glossary, index, taxonomy, and metadata strategies for content navigation, classification, and discovery.
  • Provide guidance and training on principles of technical writing, structured and topic-based authoring, single-sourcing, style guide, copyedit, and minimalism to other members of the CM team and across Engineering.
  • Participate in stakeholder discussions to anticipate and identify immediate and long-term business needs around content requirements, expectations, and user experience.
  • Research and incorporate industry best practices and innovation into existing processes and tools.
  • Manage multiple streams of work and parallel deadlines
