Avionic Technician Full Time Vancouver Avionics Technician (AME-E) The Avionics Technician performs aircraft maintenance, repairs and overhaul applicable to their trade and completes the associated documentation in accordance with industry standards, policies and procedures.
Assists and coaches’ junior technicians as required. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 1. Ensure all repairs / modifications and inspection tasks are performed in accordance with the customer’s check package, Transport Canada Regulations (CARS), Technical Airworthiness Manual (TAM), Quality Control Procedures (QCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Process Standards (CPS), all maintenance, manufacturing and policy manuals, and scope of their certification authority.
Follow the customer aircraft check package in carrying out initial inspection procedures.Review work orders and assist Crew Leader in delegating work tasks.
Plan out daily routine and non-routine work tasks by determining the tools and equipment required and prepare repair schemes by locating the specific procedures in the maintenance manual (OEM).
List all defects identified, define repair schemes, estimate the time it will take to complete a repair, research and locate the specific repair procedures from the required maintenance manuals.
Order unstocked parts and supplies required for the specific record in accordance with customer and company procedures.Ensure all work tasks are completed within the estimated time and provide assistance and troubleshoot technical problems of others when required.
Perform inspections to ensure repairs were completed accurately and in accordance with the appropriate manuals and regulations.
Inspect and sign off final work, where authorized, before closing procedures take place.Perform repairs by prioritizing and delegating work tasks, according to skill level and knowledge.
Locate and gather additional reference information to guide the repair, ensure the procurement of any parts necessary and determine what ground and other equipment is needed to complete the repair.
Finalize the repair plans and perform repair tasks to completion on schedule and to budget.Inspect repairs to ensure work tasks completed are in accordance with the required regulations.
Carry out independent inspections within area of authorization.Troubleshoot aircraft / component discrepancies when needed.
Follow all documentation procedures involved in the initial inspection on an aircraft.Sign for and document all parts removed and / or replaced on the aircraft.
Ensure all maintenance manual references guiding repairs are documented accurately.Conduct visual inspections when performing work tasks and document and report any additional repairs identified immediately to the Crew Leader for evaluation.
Ensure employee bar code is scanned at the beginning and end of every work shift.Ensure incremental sign off procedures are completed to track work order progress.
Review paperwork associated with aircraft repairs to ensure accuracy and compliance with the associated regulations, policies and procedures.
Answer junior technicians’ technical questions and assist in troubleshooting difficult repairs.Assist junior technicians in locating specific maintenance manual references and documentation to guide repairs and completing required paperwork at the end of a work order.
Keep up-to-date with Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), quality control procedures, and process standard changes and / or revisions.
Ensure all junior technicians are made aware of these changes.Encourage junior technicians in the development of effective work practices.
Provide leadership when performing work tasks and identify situations where safety policies and procedures are not being followed correctly.
Provide guidance to junior technicians in the safe and proper operation of machinery and equipment.Model appropriate on-the-
job performance and conduct in all work situations.Ensure proper safety equipment, such as proper gloves, respirators and eye and ear protection, is worn when handling hazardous materials.
Make co-workers aware of hazardous materials being handled in proximity to their work place.Follow all safety policies and procedures when operating equipment and machinery.
Demonstrate, by example, safety conscious conduct at work.Report any injury at work immediately to the Supervisor on duty and ensure that you receive treatment from a first aid attendant and fill out the appropriate paperwork.

Ensure the return of the customer aircraft in safe and serviceable condition by performing all work tasks in accordance with applicable manuals, Transport Canada Regulations (CARS), Technical Airworthiness Manual (TAM), Quality Control Procedures (QCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Process Standards (CPS), all maintenance, manufacturing and policy manuals, and scope of their certification authority.
3. Ensure all paperwork, documentation and reporting associated with a repair is completed accurately and in accordance with Transport Canada Regulations (CARS), Technical Airworthiness Manual (TAM), Quality Control Procedures (QCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Process Standards (CPS), all maintenance, manufacturing and policy manuals.
4. Provide coaching and leadership to junior technicians to ensure work tasks are performed efficiently and accurately, and appropriate skills to progress in the trade are developed.
5. Ensure all work tasks are performed in accordance with Company health and safety policies and procedures. 7. Be familiar with and ensure that all workplace conduct is in accordance with Company Human Resources, attendance, safety and security policies and procedures.
