Position Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Care, provides professional nursing care to residents, offering direction and assistance to the Registered Practical Nurse, Personal Support Worker and students, while practicing as a member of a multi-

disciplinary team, within the standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, and Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Facility Program Standards.


  • Completion of an approved Nursing Program (either College or University) with a Current Certificate of Registration as a Registered Nurse from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Minimum three (3) years nursing experience in a long-term care facility or other geriatrics environment.
  • Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Checks (PVSC).
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative / self-
  • management and accountability, and flexibility / adaptability.

  • Knowledge of Long Term Care Statute Amendment Act, Homes for the Aged / Rest Homes Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Risk Management Principles.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications including word processing, spreadsheet and internet applications.
  • Strong leadership skills and good interpersonal and communication skills to work within a diverse community and ability to deal empathetically with residents, family members, etc.
  • to contribute to their well-being.

  • Ability to work effectively independently or as a part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and act in an ethical and professional manner in accordance with the professional code of ethics and with branch policies and procedures.
  • Ability to lift in excess of 100 lbs. with assistance; to walk long distances; to lift and carry equipment, supplies and patients;
  • and to push and pull wheelchairs, wheeled beds and stretchers.

  • Ability to exercise good judgment, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required, and to work a variety of shifts.
  • Salary

    $43.22 - $49.13 per hour. This is a Union position.
