Responsibilities : Industrial Hygiene :
Industrial Hygiene :
Assess workplaces to determine the types of agents and controls involved; examine the nature of the problem and establish the type and number of environmental samples or instrumental measurements to be collected.
Conduct and / or direct industrial hygiene sampling; compile data.
Report writing; summarize observations, evaluations and results; provide specific recommendations for control of hazardous conditions.
Ensure all project related documentation is reviewed for technical accuracy & completeness.
Continuously liaise with clients throughout project.
Maintain current knowledge of developments and practices within the industrial hygiene field.
Hazardous Materials :
Conduct asbestos and lead paint / coatings bulk material surveys in buildings
Provide field support in collecting bulk / air samples for asbestos analysis
Technical report writing; assist with sample reception, logging & reporting
Answer client inquiries in person as well as via phone and by email
Education / Certifications :
A university degree and / or college diploma in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Chemistry or related pure / applied sciences
Work experience involving industrial hygiene and / or hazardous materials surveys preferred
Skills & Abilities :
Ability to operate, calibrate and maintain standard equipment or specialized IH instrumentation
Strong numeracy skills; able to perform arithmetic in all units of measure
Able to create data tables and draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to effectively work with pre-defined objectives, priorities & deadlines
Well-developed planning and organizational skills including excellent time-management skills
Ability to develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships to obtain common objectives, goals and results
Computer Proficiency :
Proficiency in MS applications
Previous experience with function specific software / EHS management systems
Physical Demands / Working Conditions :
Time is split between office and project site(s)
Extended work hours or work on short notice may be required
Ability to travel out of town for work and to remain on an extended schedule / rotation may be required
Pre-hire Requirements :
Ability to produce a clean or satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
Ability to pass pre-employment Drug & Alcohol testing
Completion of any client mandated orientation / induction
