Purpose of the position

The Les Jardins Du Couvent residence, a warm private residence for seniors, has a Chef / Cook opportunity to fill for a full-time and permanent position! Take the opportunity to work in a large fully windowed kitchen.

30 minutes from Montreal via Highway 10 E. 35 minutes from Granby via Highway 10 O. Specifically, your daily life with us will look like :

  • Ensure the kitchen and equipment are kept clean according to established hygiene and cleanliness standards
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure good teamwork
  • Assist in ensuring resident and staff safety in the dinning room by enforcing compliance with health and safety standards
  • Create tasty menus while respecting the expected level of quality and the allocated budget
  • Take inventory of service materials and while adhering to the budgets, proceed with procurement if necessary
  • Take inventory of food products and place orders with suppliers
  • Perform meal preparation while supervising and mobilizing staff in the kitchen
  • Perform inventory duties, receive and store food for the kitchen
  • Assemble plates of food
  • Plan and cook meals in accordance with the appropriate methods and standards
  • Use work methods consistent with the health and safety rules and cleanliness standards in effect
  • Ensure and optimize quality standards in the use of food
  • Perform other related duties

  • 1 year of relevant experience will be considered an important asset

  • Training certification (MAPAQ)
  • knowledge of a Maitre D's responsibilities (an asset)
  • Knowledge of retirement homes, a major asset
  • A proffesional studies dimploma (DEP) in institutional cuisine or equivelent
