This position is responsible for developing, implementing and managing forages sales and marketing programs, product portfolio management, developing sales forecasts, market share, margin and profitability, supervision of direct reports, working with forage supplier partners and seed growers to launch forages seed products and grow the forage seed portfolio within Nutrien Ag Solutions.

What you will do :

  • Responsible for all aspects of the product portfolio which includes but not limited to managing all proprietary and third-party products of the product lines and developing short and long-term business plans that include forecasting and accurately anticipating future market demand, sales projections, pricing and margin and profitability opportunities.
  • Manages the product lifecycle management which includes production guidance, treating schedules / volumes, product launches, marketing plans to maximize the revenue from all products throughout the lifecycle.
  • Responsible for taking a broader prospective of the impact that the product portfolio has to the entire pipeline sales, marketing and margin opportunity.
  • Responsible for inventory management and ensuring that supply aligns with demand and inventory is managed for maximum sales and margin.
  • Responsible for all supplier contacts including but not limited to large multi nationals and also many smaller suppliers.
  • Responsible for all aspects of human resource management of departmental staff including hiring, promoting, performance development / management, coaching and human resource policies, disciplining and discharging within company policy.
  • Creates an environment that fosters teamwork and continuous improvement.

  • Recommends product sales volumes for budgeting purposes and production volumes.
  • May recommend product pricing with approval from Director.
  • Develops complete profitability, supply, inventory, margin, discounts targets with approval from Director.
  • Responsible for product allocation to regions and districts.
  • Conducts ongoing competitive and strategic intelligence to be positioned to anticipate new market opportunities.
  • Responsible to understand the opportunities and limitations associated with developing optimum product portfolio.
  • Develops advertising and promotion plans and coordinates the seed brand position within the scope of the overall corporate brand strategy.
  • Responsible for understanding market needs today and in the future by utilizing many information sources to synthesize future demand and ensuring the product portfolio is aligned to meet the market needs at a profit.
  • Responsible for deciding markets to enter and exit and developing the rationale for these decisions.
  • Responsible for inventory management and ensuring that supply aligns with demand and inventory is managed for maximum sales and margin.
  • Develops, promotes and builds on the existing brand franchise value.
  • Creates and builds positive relationships with industry and government organizations that impact and influence the sales and marketing success of the product line.

  • What you will bring :

    A minimum of three (3) years sales and marketing experience.

    Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

    Demonstrated ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions.

    Demonstrated negotiation and interpersonal skills.

    Detail oriented.

    Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.

    Computer competent, with demonstrated ability in the use of spreadsheet, database and word processing software applications within a Windows based operating environment.
