Job Purpose

Process Engineering Support independently applies engineering theories and principles, managing moderately complex or contributing to complex projects in the design of process and support of products and tools in a manufacturing environment.

Nature of Duties / Responsibilities

  • First Time Build process design execution and reporting.
  • Create Process Assembly documentation call MAPs , visual aids and fixtures.
  • A significant requirement of the Process Engineering Support role is to monitor process performance through online tracking and enhance through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implement continuous improvement programs to drive up the yields. This needs to be documented in the process procedures.
  • Identify tooling and transport methods which include SMT Stencils, wave solder fixtures, pressfit fixtures router fixtures, SMT carriers, X-Ray carriers and Flying probe carriers .
  • Process integration of procedures and products into production though Agile. This includes in particular the administration of master data, process flow
  • Change management ECOs including adaptation and maintenance of master data and production documentation MAPs (Manufacturing Assembly procedures) and fixtures.
  • Will work with customer Bill of Materials and CAD, and provide feed back to customers on issues with data.
  • Ability to look up data sheets or request data from suppliers or customers.
  • Identify polarity on documentation.
  • Identify tooling numbers on the documentation.
  • Ability to identify SMT parts, identify through hole parts, identify pressfit parts and labels to divide into process steps.
  • Identify the type of solder that is required
  • Identify suppliers for the fixtures, getting quotes and placing purchase orders.
  • Work with quoting to identify inputs number of components and number of operations for quoting on customer products.
  • Create and update SOPs standard operating procedures on the documentation process.
  • Training and certification. with Aegis, Valor, Agile, Factory Logics and auto CAD.
  • Knowledge of SMT processes would be an asset.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze process performance problems and customer concerns.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced team members.
  • This is a customer facing role feeding back issues with drawing, data and material issues to have them corrected.
  • Has authority and autonomy to deliver on accountabilities.
  • Take ownership for processes under the control of the Process Engineering Support.
  • Conducts independent research into complex engineering problems to develop new operating policies, capabilities, and processes.
  • Education and Experience

  • A background in the execution of best practice process control is required.
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in Process or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience with product labeling is an asset.
  • Experience with assembly procedures.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly in manufacturing.
  • Experience with implementing Engineering changes.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
  • A practical understanding of Quality Standard such as TL9000 and methodologies such as 5S, TQM and Lean Manufacturing would be an asset.
  • Experience with Auto CAD.
  • Experience with SPC Techniques, DFM and FMEA would be an asset.
  • College Diploma in Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
