The EHS Supervisor is responsible for implementing and overseeing Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs at assigned plant(s).

These programs include, but are not limited to : environmental, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, product safety, emergency response, loss prevention, process safety, security and medical programs.

This individual provides guidance and facilitates a collaborative approach to site management on implementation of EHS programs in order to reduce accidents, injuries, and environmental releases.

The EHS supervisor stays current on relevant Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and facilitates site compliance with applicable regulations.

EHS Supervisor provides oversight of required training, permitting and reporting, auditing, and recordkeeping. Maintains appropriate safety equipment and general support of the EHS culture.

EHS Supervisor performs other tasks as assigned by the EHS Regional Manager or Director of EHS and site manager to support EHS programs.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES Environmental, Health & Safety Responsibilities : -Develop and communicate Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) policies and procedures -Develop, organize and communicate metrics to track EHS performance -Provide site EHS leadership through management by example and relationship development -Provide comprehensive and effective EHS training -Design and implement training to address any gaps identified -Create opportunities for expanded employee involvement and participation in EHS matters -Lead and / or oversee incident investigations and drive EHS action items to completion -Conduct periodic assessments or inspections of EHS programs to identify and correct deficiencies related to compliance with the EHS policies and procedures Job Duties and Responsibilities : -Interfaces with site personnel to identify hazards, and to develop and implement corrective / improvement measures;
  • this could include the review and approval of specific work permits, as well as participation in incident investigation teams, safety audits, design reviews, process safety reviews, project review teams, and / or job task analysis -Maintaining site Compliance Manual, Incident Management Database, Action Item Database and EHS Calendar including routine reporting, audits and permit renewals -Promoting proactive safety participation by all employees and ensuring injuries, illnesses, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions are reported and investigated -Developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health and safety programs and policies to meet or exceed compliance with Federal, State, or Provincial, & local regulations, internal policies and customer requirements (including, for example, WCB, CSA, TDG, EPA, WHIMIS, OSHA, DOT, DHS, Responsible Care Codes and RC 14001 requirements) -Supports the industrial hygiene program through air and noise monitoring and exposure assessments and prepares reports -Participating in Quality Assurance and supporting continual improvement under the ISO 9000 and RC14001 process -Maintaining all documentation essential to efficient operations of the EHS program -Monitor interactions with regulatory authorities, insurance, or EHS consultants on issues impacting manufacturing operations -Ensure environmental permits and reporting are up to date -Ensure permit requirements are adhered to REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in occupational health or safety, industrial hygiene, environmental engineering or other relevant discipline a must -Professional and / or industry certifications (, CSP, CIH, or CHMM) highly preferred -10+ years of experience in either chemical processing, oil and gas, pulp and paper, or similar industry with process safety and mechanical integrity programs required -Proven leadership record in driving safety culture and leading continuous improvements -Must be able to work in matrix organization and influence others without authority -Working knowledge of WCB, CSA, OSHA (or Provincial equivalent for Canadian positions) and EPA (or Provincial equivalent Canadian Positions) regulations and reporting requirements -High level of computer skills in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint) -Must be willing to travel up to 25% Additional desirable skills : -Knowledge of Responsible Care Codes -ISO 9000 and RC14001 knowledge -Knowledge of asbestos and lead based paint regulations.

  • Haz-Mat Technician level) and confined space rescue -Ability to conduct Process Hazard Analysis using HAZOP or equivalent method -Ability to conduct and / or lead incident investigations to determine root cause
