The Centre of Competence for Urban Rail Signalling is located right before you at mid-town Toronto. The Solutions Engineering Manager ensures Engineering activity management and drives the delivery of the requirements as planned in the project.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Plans and coordinates the whole system engineering activities within the constraints provided by the agreed architecture and design policy in order to satisfy customer requirements and ensures global development consistency.
  • Updates WBS, OBS and associated tasks, tailors development process and ensures achievement of the development baselines (functional, allocated and product)
  • Manages Risks & Opportunities of design and development during bid phase, guarantees programmed commitments, including those flown down to subcontractors and partners
  • Optimizes technical work against costs, schedule and risks from design to validation and acceptance of the solution
  • Implement the decisions and actions coming from the Complexity Profiler analysis
  • Defines and tailors the engineering environment suitable for the Bid or the Project
  • Understands and follows the company’s processes and procedures for delivering a complete Train Control Solution
  • Ensures the Project Plan is managed to deliver on time and on budget - deviations are identified early and explained to the Project Manager
  • Supports the customer relationship (under guidance from Project Manager and Product Design Architect)
  • Monitors and Controls the Engineering activities for the life of the project
  • Supports the Acquisition of necessary equipment
  • Evaluates the Impact of any Change, Deviation or Waiver on the overall program
  • Manages the coordination and delivery of configuration items to ensure a successful program
  • Manages and maintains the product breakdown structure
  • Identifies and integrates any specialty engineering into the program
  • Ensures the proper metrics collection and analysis by all engineering teams
  • Capitalizes on lessons learned
  • Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience delivering a projects in rail industry.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Knowledge of railway signaling techniques an asset
  • Knowledge of SELTRAC product an asset
  • PMP an asset
