Title : Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator Co-op

Work Term : Summer 2020

Length of Term : 4 months

The Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator will have the mandate for day-to-day project and support of our companies Environmental Health and Safety program including coordination of our Environmental Health and Safety projects and initiatives.


  • Assist in coordinating EHS information form Liberty Utilities and Liberty Power operating divisions and recording data in Gensuite and SharePoint.
  • Assist in developing accurate, informative and eye-catching EHS communications i.e. monthly safety messages, best management practices, back-to-basics bulletins, and maintaining the EHS intranet SharePoint portal.
  • Assist in creation of reports outlining incident metrics related to reported incidents as required.
  • The tracking of training records for EHS training and maintenance of EHS curriculums in collaboration with the Learning & Development group.
  • Act as the business level support for management of Environmental, Health and Safety Management System including document control of the framework.
  • Support Gensuite data entry when needed.
  • Assist with oversight and management of fleet safety metrics and statistical analysis.
  • Support the updating of all EHS standards, policies and procedures.
  • Support the various workplace EHS committees within our organization.
  • Support field audit programs and EHS team initiatives in general. Track, maintain and report audit findings in the Gensuite data base.
  • Attend field audits where needed.

    Education and Experience

  • 2nd to 4th year Business or Environmental Science student currently attending College or University with a focus in Environmental Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Knowledgeable in Incident Investigation, Behavior Based Safety, Lock Out Tag Out, Electrical Safety, Confined Space Entry, Workplace Inspections, Safety meetings, Procedure Compilation, etc. is an asset.
  • Good understanding of EHS Regulations in both Canada and US would be an asset
  • Must have strong experience with Microsoft Office Programs : Outlook, Word, Publisher and Excel as well as Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with Gensuite would be an asset
  • Must be detail oriented and possess excellent follow up skills
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and team-building skills
