Day & Ross is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to initiate, plan, execute, control and manage through to the successful completion selected projects to support the growth of the Day and Ross Transportation Group.
This individual will be highly motivated, can excel in a fast paced environment and is excited about challenging projects, providing business solutions, leveraging technology and working with multidiscipline talented teams to deliver results.
These are the essential responsibilities to be successful in this role :
Project Initiation Define and document project charters by obtaining a thorough understanding of the business objectives to be fulfilled
Project Planning Define project scope and schedule Defines work packages and inserts into project scheduleIn conjunction with management selects an effective team and assigns members to key tasks / work packages within the Project schedule
Project Control and Monitoring Supports the business application owner to manage scope and schedule by managing customer expectations for project deliverables and stakeholder communications to achieve project successUses project schedule and work breakdown techniques to guide team in the completion of the project on time with funds allocatedPrepares project status reports on a regular basis Ensures that the project remains in control through the use of techniques and tools available within a project management methodology Escalates project issues for resolution to Project Sponsor and Project Steering Committee
Project Closing Completes project closing tasks as per methodologyEvaluates and reports on performance of team membersConducts post implementation review including lessons learned and reports out to sponsor, methodology stakeholders and project steering committee
To be qualified for this role, please ensure your resume clearly displays the following :
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, community college program or equivalent job experience
Previous experience in high transactional oriented IT environments; specifically within the transportation and logistics industries would be an asset
10 plus years of experience in multiple positions performing the following : Minimum 5 years Project Management ExperienceBusiness analyst roleBusiness system analyst roleSoftware application developer or database architectPlanning and Execution of multiple large scale projects impacting 25 plus users
Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification / or work experience
Completion of multi-level process flows using industry tool sets
Excellent planning and organizational skills
Leadership and mentoring skills
Strong team building and customer relationship skills
Experience with the calculation and measurement of financial returns on projects
Vendor management and negotiation skills
Strong written, communication and presentation skills
