Job Details

Reporting to the Director, Data Management, the Business Data Analyst Lead will lead and manage all organization-wide data governance activities and be responsible for improving the quality and managing the protection of sensitive data and information assets.

In this role, you will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards and practices at the department, business and functional areas level, to achieve the consistency, quality and protection required to meet overall business needs.

The Business Data Analyst Lead will serve as a point of escalation for governance, data quality and protection issues and will work closely with business and functional area leadership to improve the quality and value of core data assets, respond to regulatory / legal protection requirements and support the strategic requirements of the department.

Position Responsibilities

  • Establish and govern an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap including strategic priorities for development of information-based capabilities
  • Develop, implement, maintain and enforce data management policies, standards, guidelines and operating procedures related to data assets
  • Define roles and responsibilities that govern the management of data assets
  • Build a communication plan so that data consumers are aware of data governance standards and the resources available for accurate data reporting
  • Build an extensive central metadata repository for information about data assets that can be confidently used in business applications across the organization
  • Perform gap analysis to ensure data integrity
  • Experience and skills required

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business administration or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience with information management, data governance practice or data analysis
  • 2+ years data quality or similar level of data analysis experience required
  • Experience with Office 365 and Governance Tool (Erwin DG, IBM IGC, Collibra, or similar)
  • SQL experience is an asset (MS SQL, Oracle, DB2, mySQL, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of databases and data structures
  • Strong analytical and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to handle tasks with minimal supervision or questions
  • Knowledge of industry-leading data quality and data protection management practices

    Compensation includes base salary commensurate with experience, performance bonuses, health / dental benefits and an optional RRSP match program.
