As a key member of the care team, the Registered Nurse under the direction of the immediate Supervisor, establishes, monitors and delivers nursing care to clients in the Federal Health Centers in the communities of Northern Manitoba.
The registered Northern Nurse must adhere to FNIH policies under the direction of the Health Center Nurse in Charge.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
report any unusual circumstances to the immediate supervisor.
emergency nursing care, suturing, Immunization and community health education and promotion.
care must be within the scope of practice of a Registered Nurse.
perform specialized nursing procedures for which recognized training and current competency can be demonstrated.
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner training or Northern Clinical Training and current registration with the provincial licensing body.
The position also requires a solid knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of community nursing and service delivery to clients.
At least one year of recent experience (within the past 5 years), working in remote, isolated or semi-isolated communities and / or 2 years experience over the past 5 years performing nursing activities and services in primary care and advanced clinical assessments.
The experience may be within the emergency, intensive care unit or within community settings such as health care centers (eg Urgent Care Center).
Other Skills and Abilities
CPR, ACLS, TNCC / ITLS, PALS / ENPC, Immunization & Controlled Substance Competencies. Must complete a Pre employment medical, Federal Security Screening.
