We have a requirement for a Satellite Communication Systems Engineer to join our Space and Network Engineering team. The Satellite Communication Systems Engineer will work closely with a team of highly skilled professionals in a collaborative environment.

The Satellite Communication Systems Engineer will be expected to carry out various system engineering activities including designing end-

to-end satellite systems at all frequency bands using advanced space and ground segment technologies to provide fixed and mobile satellite communication services.

The responsibilities and range of activities may vary, but in general will include :

  • Providing link design and capacity analysis as technical inputs to the development of business plans for new satellite initiatives;
  • Modelling all aspects of the link performance including interference and other impairments;
  • Recommending and contributing to improvements of system engineering software tools;
  • Conducting systems analysis to support regulatory filings and coordination with other satellite operators;
  • Customizing software for systems engineering link design and capacity analysis.
  • REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in satellite system design.
  • Specialization in RF and / or telecommunications engineering;
  • Knowledge of ground equipment and satellite payload performance;
  • Highly skilled at optimizing link budget analyses to achieve overall system performance;
  • Proficient with MATLAB to model complex communication systems;
  • Understanding of protocols for satellite communications;
  • Expert at analyzing interference of shared spectrum;
  • Familiarity with advanced wireless networks such as 5G;
  • Ability to summarize complex problems, solutions and recommendations;
  • Fluent in English, written and oral
  • EDUCATION

  • B.Eng or Masters Electrical Engineering
  • The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

    International travel is anticipated; therefore, candidates will need to maintain an up-to-date passport and remain legally able to travel internationally.
