The shift manager is responsible for the operation of B90 functional departments during afternoon shift (Media, Washing and Sterilizing, and Adsorption) according to production plans and in compliance with cGMP.

The incumbent is responsible for managing the daily activities of unionized staff in a cGMP facility in compliance with company policies.

This includes responsibility for the scheduling and execution of all operations with compliance to GMP documentation standards, and adherence to SOPs, cGMP and HSE procedures.

Planning and Execution

  • Ensures the full execution of the production schedule
  • Ensures detailed schedule is met, including Media, washing & sterilizing, and adsorption of final antigens
  • Acts as contact for Diphtheria and Tetanus as needed
  • Ensures availability of raw materials, accuracy of inventory & recipes, trained staff, and maintenance & availability of validated facility and equipment
  • Ensures production orders and SAP transactions and SPC data entries are maintained in a timely manner; shares responsibilities for monitoring SPC, data review and control
  • Acts as primary contact for afternoon maintenance and unexpected events
  • Oversees execution of projects and validation activities as needed during shift
  • Responsible for reviewing and completing BPR’s, log books, and records
  • Assists in the departmental operating budget and non-strategic capital investment and monitor against spending.

  • cGMP Compliance & Quality

  • Works with QOOQ and QOSA; ensure compliance with GMP requirements, develop quality continuous improvement initiatives, assists in maintaining staff quality culture and GMP knowledge
  • Ensures standards operating procedures are current and adhered too; that production records are accurate and reviewed and signed by an authorized person;
  • adherence to policy and compliance of facilities & equipment;
  • Files and investigates deviations; participates in root causes analysis and corrective actions
  • Ensures the areas and documentation are inspection ready 35%
  • People and Development

  • Organizes staff to ensure a high performing team; establishes, monitors and provides individual feedback on staff objectives;
  • ensures training of staff according to training plans and to continue to develop their competencies;
  • Contributes to the B90 Bulk management team, communicates and co-operates with other departments to ensure appropriate service levels 10%
  • Continuous Improvement

  • Follows & enhances lean management systems established for Bulk; ensures continuous improvement processes; identifies non-
  • value added activities, other waste and potential improvements in process efficiency, quality and / or yield; helps to identify solutions and drive changes via change control;
  • plans and manages facility and organization improvements

  • Provides metrics and other reports as requested
  • Participates in special projects for production process improvement projects to simplify processes, meet GMP requirements, address inspection observations, new technologies and reduce costs to assist in development and quality goals. 10%
  • Accountable for a safe workplace by supervising and monitoring compliance with employment and health & safety legislation to ensure

  • That employees work within the policies, procedures and regulations including responding promptly to all health and safety concerns or incidents;
  • critical incidents and accidents are reported to the appropriate authorities; potential safety and health hazards are identified and known by staff and that protective equipment and clothing are required and are used;
  • continuous EHS awareness and improvement by integrating team with site and Bulk initiatives

  • Cooperation with and assistance to the EHS management and Joint Health and Safety Committee in carrying out their functions. 5%
