Our Community Planning and Engagement Team at Dillon is looking for someone to join our group who wants to help lead community based consultation that is focused on the future of cities and neighbourhoods.

Someone that has the skills and interest to help design and facilitate a wide range of meetings and consultation activities with organizations, agencies and the public.

If you have a community development, planning or communications background and you love talking with people about issues in communities (like transit or development or access to parks and schools) then this may be the job for you.

Your opportunity

Dillon’s Planning & Design group is looking for a Communications and Engagement Project Manager to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals in one of our Ontario-based offices .

You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.


What your day will look like

Planning & Design (97%)

Work with a team to design and implement innovative community engagement plans for internal and external clients. This is anticipated to include the following types of tasks :

  • Research on stakeholders and project issues as input to engagement planning.
  • Work with our team to leverage digital technologies, including website content management systems, email marketing, mobile apps, social media, video and other digital communications and engagement tools.
  • Prepare communication and engagement materials including presentations, agendas, key messages, frequently asked questions, fact sheets, display panels, work books, etc.
  • Plan, attend and facilitate engagement events of various sizes and complexity.
  • Analyze and synthesize input received and preparing consultation summary reports.
  • Evaluate engagement programs and identifying areas for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate and review contracts, budgets, reports, expenditures, invoices and performance for projects
  • Bring leadership to our team in the area of communications providing your insights and experience to help grow our team skills related to communication strategy and execution.
  • Actively participate in the continued profile and growth of this service by liaising with internal and external clients, leading proposals and participating in professional industry opportunities.
  • Work directly with our technical teams to integrate communications and engagement activities project processes.
  • Travel for business to other Dillon offices upon request.

  • Qualifications

    What you will need to succeed

  • A degree in planning, public relations, communications, community engagement, or a related field, preferably at the Master’s level.
  • Minimum of three to five years experience in community organizing, engagement, or communications.
  • Experience

  • Experience leading the development and implementation of communications and engagement programs for a range of audiences and project types.
  • Experience with online and virtual engagement including social media, remote engagement tactics, survey design, and more.
  • Experience with design and facilitation of meetings, workshops, and advisory group sessions.
  • Experience working with or for municipal, provincial, or federal government clients.
  • Experience with Indigenous community engagement is an asset.
  • Adobe Creative Cloud applications (InDesign and Illustrator) and online engagement tools including SurveyMonkey, Mentimeter, Engagement HQ, Social Pinpoint, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and WebEx is an asset.
  • IAP2, CPRS, IABC membership or certification is an asset.
