We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Finance Director / Controller role to join our organization.
BRIEF OVERVIEW :
The Director of Finance is a forward-looking finance position. As the head of the Finance function in Canada, the Finance Director will be in position to shape the strategy, course and future of their assigned business area in a material way.
While activities and priorities will vary over time, in general, the Director can expect to spend their time as follows :
20% on people development and leadership (Canadian Finance team 20 members, North America Finance team is >
200 people and Canada Finance Director is member of leadership team)
25% as a player-coach, rolling up the sleeves to crunch through data and projects and deliver results,
25% developing, challenging and participating in the strategy to drive his / her business forward - strategy that is bold and anticipates or outpaces industry trends, and
30% engaging with and in all facets of his / her assigned business area - serving as a trusted business partner at the tip of decision-
making and as an integral part of achieving excellent outcomes.
They will see their work directly impact all facets of business strategy : Product Leadership, Brand Leadership, Operational Excellence, and People Excellence.
WHAT YOU WILL DO : Business Partnering
Assimilate data points and tactics and weave them to strategy that feeds to overall Whirlpool corporate vision.
Assess and utilize forecast system and provide expertise to continually increase accuracy.
Research, develop and prepare analyses to address complex business issues using adaptive problem solving techniques and knowledge of the business.
Develop and monitor long-range plans and forecasts. Identify opportunities to improve Whirlpool's business performance.
Manage Operations and Support Decision Making
Balance current state operations with our business strategy and desired future state.
Collaborate with General Manager (Canada President) and Business Partners to continually expand his / her influence beyond traditional finance to shape all business decisions.
Analyze monthly financials to uncover business insights and drivers and course correct
Partner with sales and category teams to develop business operating forecasts.
Manage Corporation and Functional Requirements
Work across all aspects of the Finance continuum, in a seamless fashion
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Credit and Collections team to effectively manage the Accounts Receivable portfolio for the Canadian organization (Risk Management, Accounts Receivable collections and Customer Relations management)
Lead role in optimizing the working capital performance in Canada.
Provide accounting and forecasting guidance on transactions to assigned business areas.
Work closely with Whirlpool’s auditors to successfully complete the quarterly review and annual audit process.
Work closely with the corporate tax and treasury departments to provide accounting and forecasting guidance for transactions and / or law or rule changes.
Fiduciary advisor on Whirlpool Canada’s Pension & Benefits committees
Responsibility of IT Infrastructure team / Manage relationship with Global Information Systems (GIS) team
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED :
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business from an accredited institution; an advanced degree or accounting certification (ie CA or CPA) is strongly preferred.
10+ years of finance leadership experience
Proven influencing skills; Experience achieving material business results in a complex matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders and viewpoints.
Ability to drive to root cause drivers versus reacting to symptoms and identify business opportunity / implications.
Experience guiding or leading annual planning and strategy development and all Financial Accounting, controls and systems
Established record of recruiting, developing and leading teams.
