Who we need

Reporting to the VP and General Manager, the Operations Engineer oversees all plant production activities to ensure efficient and safe work operations, allocating and managing resources in order to achieve optimal standards of performance and productivity.

The new Operations Manager will :

  • Implement action plans and procedures. You will collaborate with Operations and Commercial business units to develop plans for achieving production targets, applying and sharing operational best practices with various stakeholders.
  • You will develop operational procedures and manufacturing process plans, including scheduling requirements, capacity, material, subcontractor, facility, tooling and equipment needs.

  • Continuous improvement implementation. You will identify opportunities to continually improve operations metrics and liaise with the quality control department to make sure products meet set production specifications.
  • You will lead and drive a continuous improvement mindset, engaging and challenging the team for improvement ideas, including improved production, productivity, and quality performance.

    You will identify opportunities and applications for technology solutions and process innovation to drive safety improvement, productivity, cycle time reduction, inventory management and quality performance.

  • Develop manufacturing processes. You will study product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment, and conferring with equipment vendors.
  • You will implement strategies to increase production output at minimal cost and create corrective action to solve negative variances.

  • Drive strategic planning. You will lead forecasting for Production departments, create annual budgets, and manage team activities to meet or exceed budget targets.
  • You will lead and execute Manufacturing programs and events focused on creating a lean and agile culture.

  • Create a positive team dynamic. You will encourage all employees in the plant to provide feedback and drive change within the facility, adapting to the ever-changing business and staying focused on ensuring the customer experience is achieved.
  • Health and safety adherence. You will ensure the team is up-to-date and committed to following health and safety regulations.
  • You will hold the team accountable for safety and drive a safety culture across all production operations

  • Collaborate with leadership. You will review production and operating reports with the Management Team and direct the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • You will determine capital expense needs for production departments and submit capital requests for pre-determined projects, ensuring all necessary documents, quotes, and analysis is complete for capital submission approval.

    The new Operations Manager has :

  • The experience. You have 8+ years of operations leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing and Lean environment.
  • You have a clear understanding of core manufacturing principles, including metrics management, capacity planning, financial budgeting, labour planning, scheduling, material flow / inventory management, lead time, and waste reduction.

    You are familiar with Ontario Health & Safety regulations.

  • The hands-on technical knowledge. You have experience implementing a variety of Continuous Improvement tools to drive Lean Conversion including : 5S, Standard Work, Visual / Daily Management, Problem Solving Process, Kaizen facilitation, Value stream mapping, Business Plan Deployment.
  • The leadership. You have experience leading teams to success and process improvement initiatives across operational (manufacturing) and business management settings in any industry.
  • You have the confidence to draw on your expertise and make well thought out decisions. You can communicate with your labour teams, peers, supervisors, and other teams.

    You can influence and motivate a team, and you have a proven track record of leading teams toward the achievement of KPIs.

    You can mentor and build leaders within your team.

  • The flexibility. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment with high complexity. You have the ability to manage operations in multiple departments across multiple shifts.
