Section Head (OTP) Derby Up to 55k

Here at Samuel Knight, we are delighted to be seeking an experienced Section Head (On-Track Planet). The role will involve management, leadership and delivery of certification, as well as other approvals related services for On Track Plant.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced Section Head, who is looking to take the next step in their career by joining an industry leading consultancy that is known for its flexibility and drives career development.

Main Responsibilities

  • As the section head, you will lead the bidding and delivery of assignments in engineering vehicle certification, On Track Plant.
  • Ensure the quality of service meets defined targets.
  • To ensure the business is undertaken in accordance with Rail & Transit (R&T) procedures, and that all work exceeds the expectations of clients.
  • Manage workload and maximise operational effectiveness.
  • Work closely with UK and overseas client account managers to develop and market Interfleet’s services for On Track Plant.
  • Work closely with other team leaders and section heads, acting as a focus for R&T’s range of skills in Engineering Vehicle Certification, On Track Plant.
  • Be a source of guidance and expertise, specifically in relation to On-Track Plant.
  • Train, mentor and develop individuals to enhance their competency and the range of skills that Interfleet offers to its clients whilst ensuring that staff are well motivated.
  • Undertake staff appraisals and management reviews.
  • Assignment Allocator for OTP assignments
  • Experience

    The successful candidate will have experience of leading On-Track Plant certification and approvals.

    Essential :

  • Chartered Engineer with a degree in a relevant discipline, or 5 years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Sufficiently knowledgeable about your area to act as an assignment allocator, checker and approver so that only staff competent to execute and deliver appropriate solutions are used.
  • Excellent written, presentation and communication / briefing skills.
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Should be confident to deliver presentations to formal industry forums
