About the Role
The Donor Relations Associate provides support to the Advancement Team to reach its strategic fundraising engagement goals for Mount Royal University.
The scope of work will include : writing, editing, and reviewing stewardship materials; planning and managing strategic stewardship projects, events and initiatives;
maintaining collegial relationships with fundraising staff and MRU Departments. This position reports to the Senior Strategist, Donor Relations.
Write, maintain and manage online and visual content through various communications vehicles
Research and keep up-to-date on campus activities to help feed the pipeline on story opportunities that can be of value to the Foundation community
Source and collaborate with content experts and assigned Marketing and Communication Strategist(s) to coordinate supporting materials such as photography, for Foundation communication pieces
Coordinate delivery of various communication pieces including endowment reports, impact reports and quarterly e-newsletters
Work with fundraisers to implement stewardship strategies that will establish and strengthen relationships with all Foundation supporters
Identify best practices at other organizations for stewardship planning and operation
Attend stewardship and cultivation events as needed
Work with the writers and other Foundation team members to ensure consistency among various stewardship materials
Support the planning and presentation of events and post-event follow up. Examples include high profile donor engagement, gift announcements, and fundraising events.
Support organizing speakers and ensuring that leaders from your organization are present at the events.
Create event briefs for senior leadership, administration, faculty and foundation staff
Prepare impact reports, providing analysis and recommendations for future actions and improvements
Works collaboratively with other members of the advancement team to track alumni and donor event activities in University Advancement calendars and Raiser’s Edge to enhance relationships and increase the likelihood of continued contributions & engagement from alumni.
Adheres to all policies regarding the integrity, security and appropriate use of information pursuant to the wishes of all constituents and relevant privacy legislation
Develop productive working relationships with campus and community resources
Ensure Raiser’s Edge is kept up to date with pertinent donor actions that advance their relationship with MRU
Pull lists and complete thank you calls / notes to donors on a regular basis
A resource for all of University Advancement team in relation to institutional priorities

Two to three years of related experience
Undergraduate Degree in English, journalism, public relations, or related field, or equivalent
Highly organized, conscientious and detail-oriented
Solid decision-making skills, ability to set priorities, solve problems and remain calm in stressful situations is critical
Time and fiscal management, creativity and attention to detail are required
Should be a pro-active self-starter with the ability to work as part a team and / or independently
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required
Experience in working with committees, volunteers, partners, sponsors and donors
Comfortable in a fast paced environment and able to manage multiple projects and programs
Ability to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as required, must be flexible
Effective January 1, 2022, Mount Royal University will require all employees to be fully vaccinated with a Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccine.
Currently, employees must be either vaccinated or provide rapid test results twice a week.
