Lathams, an Ainsworth Company, is currently seeking an Estimator / Project Manager, to join our growing team in Downtown Vancouver.
Reporting directly to the Mechanical Division Manager, the role will be responsible for estimating and project managing multi-
family residential and commercial renovations and retrofits by independently and accurately pricing jobs from start to finish.
Estimating and proficiency in reading blueprints, and project management are two major components of this position.
This position is anticipated to be approximately 60% Estimating and 40% Project management
Review prints and project specifications for estimating purposes
Understanding of mechanical drawings for estimating framing and pricing
Assemble detailed and accurate quality take-offs and cost estimates
Develop project material budgeting by gathering costs for the various items needed to complete the project
Conduct effective due-diligence throughout project award to mitigate potential conflicts, delays, and errors
Visiting job sites for estimating purposes along with managing the project
Including assessing progress against estimate and pricing
Manage RFI process including all entry, management of responses plus preparation and updating of documentation for assigned projects
Managing scope of work, preparing estimates and change orders
Ordering equipment materials as required
Ability to work under pressure to meet clients’ timeline requirements for quoting and completion of a project
Accompany the salesmen on sales calls or to other meetings if it is anticipated technical support will be required
Prepare estimating data for new systems and allowances i.e. Seismic, Placing Equipment etc.
Post-secondary degree or diploma in construction / engineering degree, or an appropriate field. A combination of education and work experience will be considered
5+ years of experience in Estimating and Project Management
Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to guide and mentor a diverse group of contributors
Excellent organization skills, team building and coaching as a leader and team member.
Recognized for effective communication, persuasion, negotiation skills and the ability to excel under pressure.
Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings.
Strong Mathematical skills and analytical skills.
Ability to use cost-estimating software to prepare cost quotes and bids.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word, etc.)
