Our Winnipeg office is looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join our Indigenous Executive Management Services team and own the following responsibilities :
Work collaboratively with Indigenous communities and organizations to achieve their economic goals by providing training, accounting support, financial analysis and guidance that aligns with their values
Helping communities through difficult times by improving financial and operational controls, financial performance and service delivery in the short term, as well as setting them up for sustainable long-term success in order to achieve their socio-economic goals
Various full-cycle accounting responsibilities as described below, as well as training clients to complete the accounting tasks in order to establish a sustained community impact
Conducting financial analysis and producing client financial statements according to GAAP
Creating presentations and presenting financial analysis and updates regularly to client community leadership / councils
Accounts Payable including balancing subledgers, vendor file maintenance, processing / reviewing purchase orders, payment processing etc.
Accounts Receivable including setting up customers, invoice processing, deposit preparation, customer maintenance, etc.
Payroll including collecting timesheets and preparing and submitting payroll, maintaining employee info for issuing ROE’s and preparing and sending bank transfers for all payrolls
Balance Sheet Reconciliations
Preparation of Cash Flows
Preparing / pulling various reports as requested
Traveling to First Nation communities to provide training and present financial statements

Y our experience and education
Two or more years of experience in accounting and preparing financial statements
Experience preparing annual budgets
Completion or current enrollment in the CPA program is an asset
Experience working with Sage / Acc Pac and / or equivalent accounting software programs
Experience working with MS Word, Excel and other computer programs
Ability to learn quickly and multitask effectively
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment with tight deadlines
Attention to detail, along with strong problem solving skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Experience in working with First Nations clients would be considered an asset
