Position Summary :

The CG Supervisor works to ensure the project has a consistent quality and style as established in consultation with the Directors, Producers and Team Supervisors.

At Stellar the CG Supervisor manages, creates and administers a digital pipeline leading the production teams from research to delivery, and setting the bar for above average and consistent quality.

Duties & Accountabilities :

  • Work with supervisors and leads from all departments to research, define and execute to the studio expectations and above.
  • Manage the CG department teams by setting clear objectives and monitoring process, progress and results.
  • Communicate with producers, coordinators, creative and technical leads regarding directives and production requirements, with a view to tailor per production.
  • Proactively provide ideas and solutions in relation to morale, technology and pipeline concerns.
  • Interpret the Director’s vision while ensuring artistic quality, content and continuity is maintained.
  • Keeping a critical eye for creativity, continuity issues between shots, quality control, and technical errors and artifacts
  • Attend dailies, ongoing reviews and final shot approvals.
  • Coordinate Post Mortem on each production with an eye to improving on the next.
  • Assist in the recruitment process.
  • Mentor team members by providing them with support, guidance and instruction to help them achieve their artistic and professional goals.
  • Work closely with Production and Pipeline team to resolve all technical roadblocks and improve efficiency through workflow and tool creation.
  • Forecast and communicate any delays or overages, escalating any issues to the line producer and / or management where required.
  • Skills, Knowledge & Required Competencies :

  • 3+ years experience in a CG leadership role, using Maya on TV or Film production.
  • Proficiency in Maya, Shotgun and Nuke are a must.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in industry software and workflows.
  • Motivated and flexible team leader who can inspire others, while coping with constant changes and revisions.
  • Must have exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal), as well as active listening skills with an understanding of client service.
  • Must be proactive with strong planning and organizational skills; be confident and enthusiastic when communicating in person and / or over the phone;
  • and enjoy working in a fast-paced creative team environment;
  • Knowledge of both 3D episodic television and feature workflows an asset
  • Knowledge of Agile Software Development Methodologies, Redshift or Python are a plus.
