Position Summary

BCIT’s School of Health Sciences requires a temporary full-time (100%) Instructor to help in the delivery of the Food Technology diploma program.

Duties & Responsibilities


  • Deliver courses, including lectures and marking.
  • Liaise with students and industry as required.

  • Teaching experience, preferably post-secondary with full course responsibility.
  • Education : Bachelors or equivalent, Masters preferred in Food Science or a related discipline.
  • Experienced in developing and implementing food safety programs based on HACCP principles.
  • Proficiency in food processing fundamentals.
  • Familiar with the BC food processing industry, federal regulatory requirements, statistical process control, sensory evaluation, and basic nutritional aspects of food.
  • Experience in food product development, food microbiology, and food analysis an asset.
  • Understanding of various learning styles and teaching strategies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Professional attitudes which stress commitment, responsibility for professional growth, open-mindedness, and flexibility.
  • Preferable that candidate have 5 years minimum experience in the food industry.
