Why is this role important?
Reports to : Senior Manager, Finance, Discount Merchandising
Role Mandate :
This position plays a key role providing financial support to the Food Merchandising Business Unit of the Discount division.
The successful candidate will contribute to the Finance team’s ability to provide Data Driven Insights to the business and aid with the achievement of financial targets.
Automation of reporting & routine financial information
Consolidation of large amounts of complex information into simplified views
Variance analysis on P&L results and identification of trends
Monitor trends in business performance and develop predictive forecasts as required
Validation and preparation of period end accruals
Ad hoc projects and analyses
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other departments and build strong working relationships
Weekly reporting to track financial performance
Role Requirements :
Advanced skills in Excel / Access with experience in SQL / SAS
Experience in business intelligence (BI) tools such as Microstrategy
SAP experience is preferred
Ideal candidate would have (or be pursuing) an accounting / finance designation
Financial experience in a corporate retail environment ideal
Self-starter with ability to thrive in ambiguity

Superior analytical skills with the ability to provide accurate financial information and business insights
