Analyst, Transaction Finance

Toronto / Transaction Services Transaction Finance / Regular, full-timeIO’s Transaction Services and Corporate Legal Enterprise Team provides professional support to all parts of the agency.

Lawyers within the team specialize in services that support infrastructure and commercial projects, construction, real estate and leasing, lending, privacy protection, government affairs, litigation, and contract management.

Position close : June 21, 2021 Position level : P2To assist the Transaction Finance team members to build and update sophisticated financial models, and conduct business case analysis for major infrastructure projects, including public-private sector options comparison, risk assessments and solutions validation.

In addition to financial modeling and risk analysis, the Analyst will need to compile and present data in appropriate formats (e.

g., charts, tables, presentations etc.) to support decision making on complex concepts and projects.

What You Will Do :

  • Create, build and maintain financial models and produce cash flows and other quantitative outputs to assess commercial and other project finance proposals from the public and private sectors for the purpose of supporting Transaction Finance recommendations.
  • Evaluate financial models prepared by the private sector, for IO by its service providers as part of transaction analysis and structuring, as well as models prepared for bid submissions, and produces summary analysis of findings from models as required.
  • Assist in the development of business cases, using comprehensive financial models, and presentations for complex commercial and project finance transactions.
  • Compile and analyze data and finding to support the development of recommendations to IO senior management.
  • Assist in the development of procurement documentation (advisor procurements, RFQ, RFP, Project Agreements for major projects and commercial projects), writing value for money reports or other documents for presentation to senior government and IO officials, under the direction of the project lead.
  • Meet with market participants in commercially confidential meetings or other industry forums to solicit and gather feedback on IO programs and deal provisions.
  • Who We’re Looking For :

  • A post-secondary degree in business, finance or related field combined with experience in quantitative analytics and financial modeling.
  • Experience required with creating, building, evaluating, and maintaining financial models, producing cash flows, and assessing financing aspects.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills (including VBA), and PowerPoint are required.
  • An understanding of equity and debt capital markets, risk assessment, and statistical analysis is necessary.
  • MBA, CFA, Chartered Business Valuator designation and / or Accounting designation (CA, CPA) or similar professional designation (or working towards) would be an asset.
  • To be successful in this role, you will have excellent analytical skills to assess evaluate and interpret financial information, sound problem solving, consultation, and negotiation skills to manage relationships and resolve client issues, strong team leadership skills, effective communication skills to prepare and present reports, strong client focus and results-orientation, project management and organizational skills to coordinate the preparation of financial, economic and statistical reports and submissions and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products.
