This role is responsible for managing the corporate accounting team and assisting in the ongoing analysis around IMAX’s month end financials in order to help ensure accurate financials and a timely close of the month-end.
What you’ll be doing :
Creation and / or review of various reports and schedules for month-end reporting and reconciliation
Analysis of IMAX’s various recurring revenue streams; including the review, approve and post transactions related to monthly finance income, ongoing rent, and maintenance revenue.
Monitor status of customers and amend revenue recognition accordingly
Review and approve joint revenue sharing arrangement transactions
Assess and post impact of fluctuations in foreign exchange, including hedging, on GL and sub-ledger balances
Document impact of amendments on existing contracts and ensure the impact has been communicated to all relevant individuals within the broader finance function.
Review various balance sheet account reconciliations and schedules including but not limited to Cash, Prepaids, Accrued AR, Fixed Assets, Long-term Receivables, Other Assets, and Deferred Revenue.
Review and manage preparation of the financial statements for owned and operated entities.
Prepare analyses and other tasks related to new business transactions
Assist with inter-company account reconciliations and prepare related journal entries
Monitor premise leases and document accounting treatment of new leases or lease renewals
Manage, train and provide mentoring and guidance to a team member, including 3 financial analysts and 2 senior financial analysts
Assist with internal and external audit requests
Assistance with special projects and other areas in the Finance group as required
Creation of various reports as required
What we’re looking for :
Post-secondary degree in business, accounting, finance, or equivalent
Professional Accountant (CPA)
Minimum two-year experience in a manager role with direct reports in a large / global organization
Proficiency in U.S. GAAP preferred
Highly efficient, with strong attention to detail
Ability to stay focused on tasks while meeting tight deadlines
Ability to understand moderately complex contract terms
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
SAP experience is an asset
