The Volunteer’s Role
Cuso International continues to develop its Canadian program in the northwest territories by improving education outcomes for Indigenous children and youth in Northern Canada.
In particular, we are currently seeking a Library and Field Trip Assistant who will help out the East Three Elementary and Secondary School in Inuvik.
and answering student readers' inquiries.
The volunteer will be expected to help out during school Field Trips so we are looking for someone who has the ability to enjoy a high energy environment.
You may have the option to participate in on-the-land activities with students such as skidooing, camping, etc.
We need a volunteer who can "rise to the occasion" but also work independently and whose enthusiasm will hold equal weight to academic accomplishments.

About Our Partner
Inuvik District Education Authority
The Inuvik District Education Authority manages the East Three School. Located in Inuvik, the largest Canadian community north of the Arctic Circle, East Three houses both secondary and elementary school population.
The IDEA serves 633 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and is responsible for about 60 administrators, teachers and support staff.

Cuso International terms and conditions allow you to lead a modest and healthy lifestyle while being effective in your placement.
This support package will cover basic living expenses for one volunteer and is not intended to cover home-based expenses (ex.
loans, support payments, etc.) or luxury items such as imported items in placement or international personal travel.

We ask each Canadian volunteer, regardless of placement length, to raise $2,000. All volunteers receive support from Cuso International to help achieve the goal through fundraising.
If the volunteer chooses not to fundraise or is unable to achieve the fundraising goal, he / she can make a one-time donation or become a monthly donor to support our work.
