Your Opportunity :
Unit 36 is a fast-paced, high acuity 38-bed medical teaching unit with a focus on complex, multi-system acute medical patients.
We work in a dynamic team environment under a CoAct care model.
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support.
You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities.
You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Required Qualifications :
and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered.
Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
Additional Required Qualifications :
Current or recent (with 3-6 months) acute care experience is required. We will consider recent (within 3-6 months) acute care practicums.
Grade 12 diploma.HCA certificate or equivalent training.Demonstrated effective Interpersonal and Communication Skills.Demonstrated ability to read and speak English fluently.
Demonstrated prioritization and time management skills.Demonstrated ability to work within a team and autonomously.Demonstrated emphasis on Infection Prevention and Control practices including hand hygiene.
Basic computer skills are required.Current BCLS-HCP certification.Ability to manage the job classification of heavy physical demand level as per the AHS Job Demands Summary.
Ability to wear an AHS fit-tested N95 respirator when required.

Proficiency with SCM and clinical documentation standards.Willingness to Participate in Research Initiatives of Ward of the 21st Century.
