This position is critical in delivering the requirements to engineer and operate AWS cloud platform services to the Aviva community.
Main focus areas include design and implementation of cloud infrastructure solutions, developing and managing Infrastructure as Code, systems automation and configuration, systems administration, DevOps, execute change orders, as well as maintenance of AWS cloud platform services in efforts to maximize uptime.
Qualified individuals will :
Provide the support of AWS features in an Aviva-designed constructs and will need to have previous experience dealing with public cloud in an enterprise environment
Be an SME for solutions provided and therefore will be referred to by project, support and / or development teams as part of issue management and application migrations
Work within the guidelines stated in Aviva’s Global IT Security mandatory controls
Complete maintenance of OS machine images including security / maintenance patching on a monthly basis and adhoc emergency roll outs
Build a knowledgebase / documented library of solutions and troubleshooting tips / techniques for the Operations Teams
Be able to adapt to new technologies and dynamic internal customer / business needs in a rapid growth environment
Able to communicate effectively and efficiently to both technical and non-technical audience and be a self-starter who can also manage his / her own workload.
Be in a high pressured environment and will need to own / shape standards, processes and documentation by working with our user community and design / architecture teams
Be willing to go on 24-hour on-call support as the Aviva AWS platform services grows to full production support
Be able to internally share knowledge / expertise wherever possible
Computer Science Diploma or equivalent (Mandatory)
AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate OR AWS Certified Developer Associates OR AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate (Mandatory)
AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional (Preferred)
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering (Preferred)
5-8 years technical (OS, network operations, and monitoring) experience within an Enterprise sized business
2+ years of AWS infrastructure building experience at an Enterprise scale
1+ years of working experience with Terraform or CloudFormation
1-2 years of Agile environment experience
2+ years of working experience with Git or version control tools
1-2 years of experience doing DevOps
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Working knowledge of the following AWS supported operating systems;
Redhat Linux 6.x & 7.x
Windows Server 2012R2 and Server 2016
Good scripting abilities (JSON, Python, PowerShell)
Experience with automation tooling (Jenkins, Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Packer etc.)
Working knowledge of Git, Gitflow, version control, and repositories
Knowledge of containers, orchestration tools, and container management an asset
Experience using event / log capturing tools such as Splunk, SumoLogic, AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail
Skills in DNS management
Skills in AWS IAM roles, role-based user access and troubleshooting
Active directory exposure (2008 and above)
Knowledge in collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket preferred
Knowledge of service desk tools an asset
