Brookfield is seeking an Insurance Claims Specialist to support the insurance resources in our Private Equity and Infrastructure platforms.

This role also includes managing legacy run off claims retained through a captive. The position will be located at Brookfield’s head office in downtown Toronto, and offers significant growth opportunities.

The position is responsible for intake of new claims and reporting to Insurers for all lines of coverage as well as working with the site teams to help facilitate flow of information and expediting recovery.

In the management of legacy claims, the individual will be responsible for performing claims adjustment and negotiation activities, litigation management, data and information tracking, insurance claims consulting, and claim audits.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :

  • Intake and reporting of claims under all lines of insurance
  • Creating claims reporting protocols and communicating that across the group
  • Claims consulting and advice to group companies
  • Preparation of statistical information
  • Claim audits and review of outside service providers
  • Knowledge and experience in managing claims in property, liability, automobile, and professional liability would be an asset.

    QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 5 years of claims handling experience along with expertise handling complex and / or large losses and litigation files.
  • Industry relevant certifications including CIP and CRM designation (or in process).
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Effective oral, written and communication skills
  • Proficient in preparing presentations
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, balancing multiple and competing priorities
  • Team oriented but ability to function independently
  • Competency with Microsoft Office business software
