Job Description Summary

As part of the Sustainability department you will tailor building solutions to the unique technical, business and strategic Sustainability needs of our clients.

We differentiate ourselves from the competition by understanding our client’s Environmental and Social Governance needs and tailor our approach in order to deliver on desired outcomes.

The successful candidate will have exposure to all of our managed assets throughout Canada. The successful candidate be responsible for ensuring operational continuity within Cushman & Wakefield’s Canadian Corporate Sustainability platform, and to ensure the goals and objectives set forth by the Senior Executive team are met.

Job Description

Major Responsibilities

  • Implementation and further Development of Cushman & Wakefield’s Corporate Sustainability Program
  • Oversee and Execution of Site Energy Management Programs
  • Track Energy Reduction and Greenhouse Gas Emission targets against reduction targets as well as tracking building certification awards, IE : BOMA Best, LEED, etc.
  • through GreenCheck Sustainability Platform. This includes Cushman & Wakefield Quarterly Reporting

  • Oversee Energy, Water Reporting & Benchmarking (EWRB) Ontario Provincial Mandate
  • Oversee owner Specific Annual GRESB Reporting (where applicable)
  • Sustainability and Energy Management coaching and guidance and support to all site teams across Canada
  • Assist sites with Green Custodial Programs (where applicable)
  • Assist sites with Green Service Contracts (where applicable)
  • Assist sites with Green Procurement Program (where applicable)
  • Assist sites with Updated Tenant Design Criteria (where applicable)
  • Technical advisory and complex project support to site teams
  • Collaboration with National leaders under Asset Management Envelope
  • New Business Development and Financial Management
  • Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Professional designation (C.E.M., A.Sc.T., C.Tech., C.E.T. or P.Eng.) preferred
  • LEED and WELL Accredited Professional
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in a supervisory / managerial capacity within a commercial real estate setting, with focus on the following areas energy and water conservation, energy efficiency, re-commissioning of buildings for energy conservation, renewable energy, sustainability initiatives and building certifications is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of building operations and systems
  • Proven track record of group leadership
  • Proficient knowledge of project and group related financial management (invoicing, budgeting, basic revenue models, P / L, cost-to-completions, etc.)
  • Ability to make technical assessments of energy consumption in order to make clear informed decisions and to prioritize tasks.
  • Able to conduct ASHRAE level I Energy Audits or equivalent Energy Optimization Studies.

  • Ability to develop projects, plans and budgets, and to engage in on-going communication with senior management and various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role within an institution-wide Sustainability program.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including experience developing and delivering presentations to diverse audiences is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with budget planning and management as well as the development of cost-benefit analyses and business cases is required.
  • Proficiency in standard office software applications : Word, Excel, Power-point
  • Strong interpersonal skills is required to build rapport with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills.
  • Technical proficiency in the mechanical, electrical and control systems used in the Property Management industry
  • Expertise in the operation, management and the cost controls of Property Operations
  • Knowledge and interpretation and application of applicable commercial building codes and standards
  • Experience reading and interpreting documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and BAS SOO
  • Strong understanding of project management processes
  • Advanced Computing Skills in Outlook, Excel & Word
  • Familiarity with Angus Anywhere or other preventative maintenance software
