The Research and Strategy unit reports to Ivanhoé Cambridge’s global strategic management team. The unit’s main mission is to carry out applied research to assist in investment and portfolio management decisions, in addition to monitoring real estate market trends.
In this role, you will play an active role and contribute directly to the mission of the Research and Strategy team by specializing in the markets of North America and Latin America.
Therefore, you will work closely with the Research team based in Montreal, Paris and the Investment teams based in North America and Latin America.
You will provide your fellow team members with feedback, comments, advice and findings of analyses addressing various topics.
Your duties will include the following :
Help prepare a research plan to support Ivanhoé Cambridge’s North America and Latin America business unit;
Develop the econometric models necessary to conduct research and analyze the findings in order to be able to apply them to the real estate sector and Ivanhoé Cambridge’s portfolio;
Compile critical information for real estate intelligence purposes; seek out economic, financial and real estate information to support internal research initiatives;
Prepare economic analyses in support of market penetration strategies (risks of breaking into or exiting selected markets), taking into account various economic and geopolitical aspects;
formulate and present actionable recommendations based on these analyses;
Provide the required economic support for the preparation of reports concerning economic conditions and major trends affecting the Company’s activities in key markets;
Prepare recurring analyses examining specific themes or ad hoc market analyses to support transactions, risk management and arguments surrounding investment or disposition strategies;
Track economic shifts and projected disruptions that may have an impact on the assets held by the Company around the world;
working with the portfolio management team, determine the impact of these changes on the portfolio, assess the related risks and formulate recommendations as required;
Help develop new tools to better monitor current and prospective markets; seek out new sources of information;
Carry out any other related tasks requested by the immediate supervisor or required as part of the job;
Support the investment teams in carrying out microeconomic and financial analyses, in particular those focusing on target financial markets and publicly listed companies.
Master’s degree in economics with advanced financial knowledge and a solid understanding of macroeconomics and econometrics;
in-depth understanding of real estate and financial markets;
Graduate diploma in economics, or in finance, or in real estate or another related discipline is considered as an asset;
Five to eight years of relevant experience (in real estate);
Excellent knowledge of North America and Latin America real estate markets, as well as the inherent issues and complexities;
Self-directed, innovative and highly organized with strong business acumen and multitasking skills;
Proven ability to develop actionable recommendations and adapt them to meet the needs of various stakeholders at different levels;
Track record for developing and writing compelling reports in French and English;
Intellectual curiosity, analytical mindset and ability to process and summarize information;
Team-oriented and committed to continuous quality improvement.
