KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a meat or food processing environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving
  • Proven Leadership skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Experience working in a unionized environment would be considered an asset
  • KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Report food safety and quality issues to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Ensure that all work is performed according to pertinent GMP, HACCP, SQF, CFIA, Safety and all established regulations.
  • Maintain order and efficiency
  • Enforce all Company rules and regulations
  • Administer First Aid
  • Deal with grievances at the primary stage
  • Maximizes attendance and follow-up to reduce absenteeism by coaching, conducts Accident Investigations, and takes disciplinary statements and administers discipline in line with the Plant’s Discipline Policy
  • Schedule overtime cooperage when required
  • Ensure all production lines are set-up and operable in accordance with the daily production schedule
  • Train new employees in all skills and aspects that allow them to work safely and efficiently
  • Monitor chemical usage and reorder when needed
  • Research and order proper PPE and Sanitation equipment
  • Provide direction, guidance and assistance to the other Supervisors
  • Conduct team and safety meetings on a monthly basis
  • Produce reports, ensuring sanitation logs are kept up-to-date as well as time sheets
  • Minimize downtime by performing minor repairs
  • Coordinate closely with receiving / maintenance / shipping / production departments to ensure all needed materials are supplied so lines start on time
  • Perform daily and monthly inventories
  • Able to work in a cold, humid, or wet manufacturing environment with frequent standing / walking and occasional lifting of up to 30 kgs
