Responsibilities :

The Merchandise or Category Assistant is responsible for supporting the Category Manager and Director in all areas relating to the effective and profitable operation of their assigned departments and categories (e.

g. Bed / Bath / Household).

Key Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and distribute orders and requests
  • Follow up on delivery of all orders
  • Maintain good vendor relations and timely and accurate communications with logistics and stores
  • Respond to store, DM and vendor inquiries
  • Maintain price and SKU file
  • Communicate with distribution centre as required
  • Resolve invoicing discrepancies and otherwise trouble-shoot
  • Understand and effectively use company’s information systems relevant to buying
  • SKU and PO creation
  • Management of samples
  • Special projects as required
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience :

  • College diploma in Business Administration / Merchandising or a related field
  • 1-2 years retail experience
  • A results driven, self starter with demonstrated passion for buying and a desire to learn
  • Communicates in a professional and positive manner
  • Well organized with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Responsive to customer and / or vendor issues, as well as store requests
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Powerpoint
  • Working knowledge of JDA an asset
