About This Opportunity

The Community Health and Wellness Centre is seeking a part-time family physician to join their collaborative team of two family physicians, one nurse practitioner, one registered nurse, one dietitian, and one pediatrician.

With sites located in East Preston and North Preston, the Community Health and Wellness Centre serves the communities of East Preston, North Preston, Cherrybrook, and Lake Loon.

The successful candidiate will split time between both Community Health and Wellness Centre sites, and includes home visits and some shifts at the local Urgent Care Centre.

The clinic is fully integrated on the Med Access electronic medical record (EMR) system. There is also opportunity for short-term and long-term locum positions.


  • deliver comprehensive primary health care services to practice patients of all ages and stages of health or illness
  • work with other providers in the clinic to provide cross coverage and same day access Monday to Friday
  • work with other providers in the clinic to provide a plan for weekend availability and after-hours access and emergency coverage
  • participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities either developed in practice or as lead by NSHA or others
  • utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is common and accessible to all collaborating team members
  • Expected Hours

  • permanent, part-time position (0.3 FTE)
  • 1.5 clinic days / week
  • Qualifications

  • all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • all specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
  • membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
