This inventory is targeted to Aboriginal persons who will self-declare as an Aboriginal person.

An Aboriginal person is a North American Indian or a member of a First Nation, Métis or Inuit. North American Indians or members of a First Nation include treaty, status or registered Indians, as well as on-

status and non-registered Indians.

The Aboriginal affiliation will be verified at the time of the appointment.

Intent of the process

This process aims to create and maintain an inventory of Aboriginal persons for casual, indeterminate or term appointment within Crown-

Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada and Indigenous Services Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)


A secondary school diploma

An acceptable combination of education, training and experience*

  • This combination will include your successful completion of secondary 4 or grade 11 in addition to two years cumulative experience providing clerical functions or customer service (this could include, but not limited to : data entry, filing, answering telephone calls, preparing written correspondence, providing assistance to customers, serving the public).
  • In addition, if you have training other than high school, this may also be considered for education.

    Experience providing administrative support services*.

  • Administrative support services is defined as, for example, but not limited to : managing agendas, scheduling and organizing meetings / teleconferences, preparing and collating meeting file folders and background materials, procuring office equipment and supplies, maintaining a filing system, and other related duties.
  • Recent* experience using Microsoft applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel or Outlook).

    You may have other experience that may not be necessary for all our positions but that could be an asset. Asset qualifications may be used at the screening stage or any stage during the process.

    Experience in providing services to or working with First Nations, Inuit or Metis

    Experience in dealing with the public or in providing reception service

    Experience in providing information or guidance to clients or management

    Experience in setting up computer, audiovisual and videoconferencing equipment

    Experience in Records Management

    Experience in providing mailroom support services (e.g. pick-up, delivery and sorting of mail)

    Experience in providing financial support services (e.g. reconciling financial transactions, and verifying and paying invoices)

    Experience in using a Human Resources information management system

    Experience in using electronic documents and records management systems

    Experience in using a document tracking system

    Experience in using an accounting or financial system

    Experience in researching, extracting and compiling or summarizing information from various sources.
