Working with the Substation team out of Burnaby office, the Junior will be responsible for the design and delivery of high voltage substation projects in British Columbia as well as across North America.
Your Key Responsibilities
Perform engineering studies such as power flow, short circuit, arc flash, grounding, lightning protection, insulation coordination, cable ampacity, Station Service AC / DC system, rigid and flexible bus, lighting, etc.
Conduct detailed design and drafting for switchyard layouts, elevations, ground plan / details, cable and trench routing, Station Service AC / DC distribution, single line diagrams, etc.
Prepare technical portion of tendering package, detailed engineering scope, construction specification, inspection and test plan, etc.
Provide technical support for procurement, construction and commissioning.
Assist in preparing proposals, project plans and estimate.
Coordinate with other disciplines during project execution to solve technical issues.
Conduct site visit to verify project scope and provide construction site supports as required.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Diploma in Electrical Engineering (preferably in Power System). New graduate with relevant co-op experience will be considered.
Direct detailed design experience related to high voltage substations is an asset.
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Microstation.
Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills on multi-disciplinary teams, suppliers, sub-consultants and clients.
Fluent in both spoken and written English.
Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license or equivalent with good standing.
Ability to handle and deliver multi-tasks.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering (Power System preferred).
Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
