Position Description

We are currently looking for a Registered Neurophysiology Technologist who can join our Intraoperative Neuromonitoring team and work under the guidance and supervision of a Board-Certified Neurophysiologist.

In this role you will perform quality neurophysiological monitoring in an effort to prevent intraoperative neurological deficits during high risk neurosurgery and orthopedic cases.

You will be responsible for confidently communicating patient related concerns to the surgeon and / or Neurophysiologist in real time, efficiently and accurately.

Brief Description of Position

  • Preparing electrodes and stimulators prior to surgery in accordance with the hospitals infection prevention and control policies.
  • Set up and perform accurate and interpretable intraoperative monitoring studies (SEP, MEP, BAER, EEG, EMG)
  • Analyze and clinically interpret the patient’s neurological responses during critical moments of the surgical procedure
  • Troubleshooting technical issues, and ensure equipment is functioning in an effective and efficient manner
  • Preparing written and electronic reports documenting all procedures, including tests performed results, and any other relevant data, in accordance with hospital, departmental, and research policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to neuromonitoring related research
  • Performing all patient care responsibilities with a clear understanding of and adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures and with a commitment to contributing to the hospital vision, mission, and values.
  • Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related health science discipline, preferably neurophysiology
  • Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM)
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and maintain focus and concentration within the operating room environment.
  • Ability to work the occasional weekend, and evenings
  • 2 years of Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring experience is preferred.
  • Membership with Canadian Association of Neurophysiological Monitoring (CANM) is also preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
  • Employment Type - Full-Time, Permanent
