We currently have an opening for a Technical Estimator to join our team in Ottawa.
Within this role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply their trade experience and knowledge in an office based position.
This position is temporarily a remote work opportunity due to COVID-19. This position is based in Ottawa.
Overview of Responsibilities :
Prepares complete estimates for plumbing, process piping, equipment installations and HVAC
Responsible for identifying risks and the management of installations
Accurately evaluate project needs and requirements through on-site assessments and troubleshooting
Visit project and client sites to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate
Preparing proposals, correspondence and project scopes based on in-person assessments made personally or received by teammates
Support clients and site teammates by proposing solutions and options for new projects as well as maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance work.
Qualifications and Experience :
Strong technical knowledge in HVAC, or heating cooling or refrigeration required
Experience and / or knowledge of installation and / or new construction processes and procedures
Pricing and estimating experience for parts, and installation
Experience working with sheet metal and plumbing knowledge required
Journeyman Trade Certification and / or other applicable trade licenses desired
Strong written and oral communication skills
Have excellent communication, people management, follow-up and problem-solving skills
Able to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules.
Be comfortable with computers and technology
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
Attention to detail and strong organization skills
Ability to work independently and to make decisions using sound judgement
Perform site visits when required including attending project site meetings, consultant walkthrough, permit inspections, etc.
