Reporting to the Director of Room Operations this dynamic leader has proven excellence in service delivery and will effectively lead the resort activities team including the fitness area, childrens programming, recreation activities, lifeguards and pool attendants.
This role is responsible for achieving a seamless guest experience by maintaining company service standards and achieving the hotels goals.
Ensure promotion of recreation activities throughout the hotel through effective communication
Oversee all recreation programming, waterfront, pool and fitness center activities
Responsible for maintaining the recreation budget including assisting with resort activity revenues along with expenses, staffing levels and productivity
Accountable for tracking recreation statistics
Assist event management team with the planning and facilitation of group related recreation duties
Responsible as the main contact for all group customers and designing their recreation program for the group stay
Keep all resort websites updated with current guides and recreation opportunities
Own large projects by researching, costing, planning and preparing proposals for leadership team for special events to attract more guests to the resort
Research and communicate community and area resources for additional recreation activities not available on resort property for our guests for longer stays
Review industry trends for new and innovative product and service opportunities
Oversee production of resort recreation communications collateral including brochures, lobby banners, ad hoc posters and hand-outs
Liaise with third party service providers to provide additional recreation facilities, services and experiences to our guests
Create compelling special events throughout the year, with focus on November through April and public holidays, to attract leisure visitors to the resort
Collaborate and coordinate with resort team and local partners to ensure a diverse range of experiences for guests, and smooth execution of special events
Serve as an individual contributor and department role model by performing technical or functional job duties including recreation activities and childrens programming
Train, coach and develop a successful and enthusiastic team of front of house associates, engaging in performance management and positive coaching and counseling as needed
Manage department coordinator, attendant and additional seasonal associates including lifeguards and pool attendants
Develop strong relationships with the sales, events and operational teams to ensure program success
Promote the rules and regulations of the recreation department intended for the safety and welfare of guests
Follow company policy and procedure for activities including use of waivers
Provide ongoing feedback and training to develop associates
satisfaction survey comments
Collaborate with leader to develop and carry-out ideas and procedures to continuously improve department performance and GSS scores
Prepare work schedules weekly and process payroll daily
Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required
Other duties as assigned
Minimum 2 years experience in a recreation leadership position
2-4 years of progressive experience in a recreation role or facility operations
University degree or college diploma in recreation
Current Standard First Aid & CPR C certification
Current NLS Pool certification
Proven leadership abilities and excellent guest service skills
Knowledgeable about the hotel and surrounding area
Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holiday
Required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
Stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift
Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling
