Job Description

  • Our client in Oakville is looking for a qualified Tool Room Machinist. As a Tool Room Machinist, you will be working for the weekend day shift, your responsibilities will be to support all Machine shop, Surface Finish and Maintenance activities;
  • you will be require to setup and operate a variety of tool room equipment to produce precision parts, fabricate and modify tools to make or repair machine tools, applying knowledge of shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Undertake a variety of jobs, in some cases with limited instruction or information from the customer.
  • Position and fasten work pieces.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machine.
  • Work from sketches, verbal, and print information in order to produce projects according to specifications.
  • Select the appropriate tools and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as CNC Mills / Lathes, Manual Mills / Lathes, Drill Press, Jig Bore, Sanders, Grinders, and other support equipment.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, depth micrometers, inside diameter gauges, and outside diameter gauges.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to insure parts are being made according to specifications.
  • Operate crane in order to load parts onto machining center, lathe, or mill.
  • Actively participate in the 5S program.
  • Assist with keeping the department and machinery clean
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of machining experience.
  • Working knowledge of welding with Stick / Tig and Acetylene Torches.
  • Possess a good knowledge of tooling speeds and feed rates.
  • Anode design for Cad, S-Nickel, Chrome
  • Lead burning, forming and fabrication
  • Strong knowledge of electro plating processes and circuits
  • Previous experience establishing and using a tool management and maintenance system.
  • Basic knowledge of electro plating
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and use an overhead crane in a safe manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize measuring equipment in support of quality requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
  • Ability to hold tight machining tolerances.
  • Understand various tooling technology.
  • Troubleshooting Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
