Position Purpose and Summary

Under the direction of the Trinity Western Outfitters Store Manager, the Senior Sales Associate is responsible for front line tasks and customer service.

This is a part time, permanent position for 25hrs / week.

Key Areas of Accountability

Customer Service and Front Line Services

  • Open store and work with Bookkeeper to guarantee cash drawers are ready
  • Cashiering and customer service
  • Maintain inventory of general use supplies bags, staples, receipt tapes, fixtures, etc
  • Work with Store Manager in the training of sales associates
  • Tidy sales floor everyday
  • Maintain the sales floor presentation, working with Merchandiser / Buyers to attractively display and profitably merchandise products to achieve optimum sales
  • Answer store phones and emails to general mailbox
  • Coordinating outgoing messages through general e-mailbox, phones, Intercomm and other campus wide announcements avenues
  • Coordinate with M / Bs to get merchandise on the floor as quickly as possible
  • Coordinate with Manager to sign and promote sales and special events
  • Assist M / Bs with return of damaged / defective merchandise
  • Monitor stock movement and coordinate with M / Bs regarding markdowns, promotions, price changes, and clear outs
  • Act as primary campus contact regarding outgoing postal products and services
  • Work with Mail Centre to fulfill delivery expectations, including handling outgoing mail, providing information and coordination of student mail boxes
  • Maintain postal inventories, supplies and equipment
  • Cross train as necessary, being flexible in the performance of alternate responsibilities
  • Weekend and off hours shifts required during specified times of the academic year

  • Interpersonal skills to deal with a variety of students, staff, faculty, and sales representatives
  • Commercial awareness - demonstrate initiative and creativity in product selection, displays, and promotion techniques
  • The ability to recognise future trends
  • Retail merchandising skills with a wide variety of product lines
  • Experience with the time-sensitive provision of materials
  • Physically able to lift, push, pull boxes up to 20 kg and stand for extended periods of time.

    Standards & Requirements

    Education : Grade 12 required

    Experience : 1-2 years in a retail or customer service environment

    Preference given to an individual with the following :

  • Sales and merchandising experience in an environment with various product lines
  • Duties and responsibilities that do not constitute a major change may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of the supervisor either orally or in writing.
