Job Description

Transportation Analyst - Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with carriers, 3PL warehouses, suppliers, and customers to ensure freight is moving through system accurately and make system adjustments when necessary; and
  • Support optimization of daily plans in a Transportation Management System;
  • Liaise with logistics management teams to determine ways to optimize service levels, maintain supply-chain efficiency and minimize cost;
  • Restructure shipping schedules to consolidate loads, maximize carrier usage, or limit the movement of empty capacity when necessary, track product flow from origin to final delivery;
  • Provide analytical support, reports and tools to the entire Supply Chain team (S&OP, Customer Service, Procurement, Distribution and Finance)
  • Understand industry standards, trends, or practices to identify developments in logistics planning or execution.
  • Support network analytics to drive decisions and provide root cause analysis of transportation trends
  • Challenge current processes, systems and tools to identify and implement opportunities for improvements
  • Support procurement project launches and new business initiatives by managing project plans and providing data analytics
  • Gather business requirements and develop scorecards, reports and dashboards to support the business
  • Support program management functions that help drive compliance, conversion and growth opportunities
  • Performing statistical forecasting activities with some input, including running the statistical forecast, managing exceptions and adjusting as necessary;
  • Develop and maintain KPIs to ensure fluidity and efficiency within the network;
  • Liaise with logistics management teams to determine ways to optimize service levels, maintain supply-chain efficiency and minimize cost;
  • Maintain freight rate databases for use by supply chain departments to determine the most economical modes of transportation;
  • Transportation Analyst - Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bilingual in French and English
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain and Logistics or related field;
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in Supply Chain & Logistics in an operational and / or analytical capacity;
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by air, rail, water, or road including the relative costs and benefits;
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems;
  • Mid to advanced level of skill in the use of computer and office equipment and Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook;
  • knowledge of Microsoft Access, Visio, and Project would be beneficial;
  • Demonstrate initiative to independently plan, organize, and prioritize workload taking into consideration conflicting deadlines;
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral format with the general public, employees, and external organizations;
  • Demonstrate information gathering skills used to find and identify essential information; utilize new information for future problem-solving and decision-making;
  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgement in providing information to internal or external customers; uphold strict confidentiality regarding sensitive matters; and
  • Excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with internal and external business partners.
  • Transportation Analyst - Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree or College diploma - Engineering, Business or Supply Chain
  • 1-3 years’ experience in an analytical role
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, proficient in Microsoft Access and PowerPoint
  • Experience with databases / SQL is an asset
  • Excellent data management, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Results oriented, self-starter who is able to adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate issues, analysis and solutions
  • Ability to understand processes and the impact within the organization
  • Critical thinker who is inquisitive and seeks to find solutions and make recommendations
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, project management skills and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize with minimal supervision
  • Solid organization skills and attention to detail
