Labour Relations / Human Resources Manager

Montreal, QC, Canada

Reporting to the Senior People Partner Manager, Canada, the Labour Relations / Human Resources Manager will ensure the effective delivery of HR operations in the allocated Business areas, meeting Business needs in line with HR delivery model and Company policy.

The HRM will work in close cooperation with the Union representatives and the Managers in order to promote constructive and harmonious relationships.

As HRM, you will act as a change agent and will support the Business initiatives in all projects that require their expertise.

    KEY RESPONSABILITIES :

  • Coach management team in handling complex Labour relation issues
  • Manage all grievance cases and ensure they are processed within the required timeframes, liaising with union officials and external legal support as appropriate to manage to a conclusion
  • Lead and coordinate any disputes that might arise concerning the interpretation or application of collective agreements or labour standards law
  • Participate, coordinate and guide the decisions concerning Business projects that have an impact on work organisation, labour movements, etc.
  • With the Senior People Partner, develop Business strategy for future bargaining objectives and cost out proposals
  • Be responsible to lead the preparation of each negotiation
  • Negotiate the collective agreements and act as the spokesperson for the Company
  • Lead the implementation of the negotiated changes
  • Provide effective HR support to Business Managers across various Businesses with diverse needs ensuring these needs are met in line with Company HR policies and processes
  • Drive the effectiveness of the HR delivery model through guiding line managers to obtain support from the right areas and maintaining a strong partnership with HR service operations activities to ensure overall service delivery
  • Support organisational development and organisational transformation
  • Be responsible for local deployment of Company HR processes such as performance management, reward review, role grading, salary policy, engagement surveys, etc.
  • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Human Resources or Industrial Relation degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Several years of experience in Human Resources in a unionized environment, more specifically in labour relations
  • Prior experience in preparing and leading important negotiation mandates
  • Prior experience in being the spokesperson for previous negotiation mandates
  • Broad HR experience with in depth knowledge of the HR function and its capability to support business objectives
  • Well-developed customer and relationship management skills, including credibility and influencing skills with strong customer service orientation
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Very good written communication skills and interpersonal skills (French and English)
  • Preferred :

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and / or in the aviation industry for a multinational company
  • Member of the Order of Certified Human Resources Professionals (CHRP)
  • Any candidate with extensive experience in the aviation industry combined with education, training and a profile that stands out will be considered.
