Specific accountabilities

This is a new role within in the operating group and as such, the incumbent will be self-starter as they develop the role to service the analytical requirements of operations group servicing the retail real estate portfolio.

Analysis within operational portfolio includes property management, property financial controls, security, sustainability and procurement.

  • Operations Performance : Coordination and analysis of data related to property, asset class or national portfolio to source benchmarking, explain variances and provide recommendations for optimal operational performance : Regularly update and produce reports supporting key metrics, performance indicators and benchmarking for various departments in the operations group (property management, security, sustainability, project management);
  • Recommend presentation strategy related to context of data to reflect strategies related to financial targets;Review data and metrics to recommend courses of actions to leverage trends from various portfolio analysis;
  • Analyze Common Area Maintenance (CAM) and recommend efficient use of funds contributing to EBITDA;Recommend alternative application of CAM funds leveraging opportunities to support sustainability initiatives;
  • Create documents and presentations along with speaking notes for senior management reporting;Comfortable working in cross-functional teams of peers and senior management through meetings held in-person or video.

  • Liaison : Act as a resource person to internal stakeholders, including senior managers, regarding operations information related to major capital, common area expenses, operating budgets, traffic management, security and sustainability reporting;
  • Unifier : Responsible for the data stewardship of Unifier data management tool related to processes and systems such as workflow controls, data deadlines, data migration, capital book information management, testing and training of Unifier modules for mid-level managers : Provide review and analysis for benchmarks of various major capital expenditures.
  • Financial : Candidate will also be conduit for efficiencies for operating statistics / reporting between operations information and retail / corporate finance teams providing recommendations for consistent financial reporting from operations, creation of budget guidelines and property variance explanations : Analyze data in Unifier to ensure accuracy and consistency recommending solutions as required for seamless integration of accurate data for various department needs;
  • Analyze and recommend processes for major capital integration within operations, finance and asset management groups including management reporting and financial impacts on financial requirement of each department.

    Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, administration, real estate or accounting;
  • 2 to 4 years of analyst experience, experience managing projects with strict deadlines independently;
  • Logical, quick-thinking and able to identify and analyze problems in a timely manner;
  • Highly organized and able to handle several projects simultaneously;
  • Comfortable meeting and dealing with internal stakeholder at various levels of management in a professional and diplomatic manner;
  • Able to work independently in an agile environment and as a part of a cross-Canada team;
  • Able to communicate and present information to facilitate strategic direction;
  • High level proficiency in Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint;
  • Familiarity with Oracle Primavera and JDE preferred;
  • Fluency in written and spoken French and English.
