Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Water Treatment Practice Lead / Manager for our Municipal Water Group for our Ontario Region who will be responsible for the delivery of water supply, distribution and treatment projects.

Location is dependent on the candidate, however, preference will be for our Waterloo Design Centre or our offices in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Responsibilities :

  • Work with our current Water Practice organization to build and develop a high quality potable water supply, distribution and treatment engineering group
  • Establish, implement and operate an efficient and effective process to secure and execute the design of Ontario water works including supply, distribution and treatment plant upgrades and expansions
  • Business development-Grow the drinking water business in Ontario and across Canada
  • Assist and lead with our Water Practice in hiring high caliber water engineering expertise
  • Work with our current organization to develop and advance our existing capabilities and professional resources
  • During our build process, lead experienced multi-discipline technical teams in the preparation of complex water projects including studies, Class EAs, concept reports, preliminary and full detailed designs for municipal water works.
  • Work with our Water Practice Business Development group to increase our water infrastructure market share in Ontario. Activities will involve leading and / or participating in client marketing sessions, assisting in developing market growth strategies, proposal development including establishment of winning project execution strategies.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet or exceed GHD’s internal and external client quality objectives.
  • Skills, Competencies and Qualifications :

  • Professional Degree in Civil or Chemical Engineering
  • Hold a Professional Engineering License in the Province of Ontario ( Alberta or British Columbia would be an asset)
  • Minimum of 15 years in managing a division responsible for leading multi-discipline engineering teams in the preparation of Water Works in the consulting industry.
  • Excellent knowledge in drinking water supply, distribution and treatment processes
  • Excellent knowledge in Ontario and National Water Regulations
  • Excellent reputation with Ontario municipalities through an established track record of delivering projects of high quality in addition to strong industry connects in the Ontario market ( in addition to Western Canada would be an asset)
  • Delivered engineering designs from project inception through execution to turnover on large water projects
  • Strong knowledge in alternate project delivery as well as delivering projects from multiple offices
  • Strong experience and knowledge of construction contract administration services
  • Experience in providing designs within a firm having an established Quality Assurance and Quality Control program that is registered to a standard equal to or higher than ISO 9001
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to develop, mentor and lead professional technical staff
  • Experience in leading projects utilizing 3D CADD
