Job Title Design Drafting Technician
Reports to Product Launch Manager
The Design Drafting Technician is responsible to support various departments at NCS Multistage, including Engineering, Intellectual Property, Technical Services and Marketing.
They are responsible for taking basic concepts, drawings or sketches, and creating 3D models and then produce an engineering drawing for a structure.
Key areas of responsibility
Create and review SolidWorks models, BOMs, drawings and documentation to ensure they meet the NCS drafting standard and are of the highest quality and assist with edits where required.
Review drawings to make sure the meta-data is complete and correct for release to Oracle.
Create & maintain Engineering drawing / model standards & procedures.
Create & maintain third party Library 3D models.
Revise existing drawings as directed by the Product Launch Manager.
Build new feature library parts to improve efficiency & drawing consistency.
Participate with the Engineering group to solve technical problems.
Assist Technical services by creating exploded images for use in catalogues and product bulletins.
Support Intellectual Property by creating images for patent applications.
Support Marketing by creating SolidWorks drawings, 3D models, and motion studies, and other exported files for use by Marketing.
Help to promote safe work practices and higher standards of performance.
Support and uphold HS&E policies and procedures of NCS and the customer.
Align individual goals with NCS’s corporate goals, while adhering to and promoting the NCS Promise.
Participate in Personal Development for Success (PDS).
Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Engineering Design & Drafting Technology Diploma; required
2 5 years of experience as a mechanical draftsperson, experience with CAD and PDM software, SolidWorks & Enterprise; required
Comprehensive industry related experience, 1-3 years; preferred.
Industry related experience, coiled tubing, fracturing, drilling / service, or downhole tool operations; asset
Knowledge on SolidWorks or similar 3D modelling software; asset.
Experience using Oracle software; asset.
Knowledge of KeyShot, Blender, or other non-parametric 3D modeling software.
Knowledge of drafting standards to create accurate and clear manufacturing drawings.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites.
Work with other teams and exhibit effective communication.
Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
Status : Overtime Exempt.
Employment Classification : Full-time, Regular.
Work Schedule : 5 days on, 2 days off, 8-hour shifts.
Special Equipment : Cell Phone & Desktop Computer.
Travel : less than 5%.
Eligibility : 10% bonus.
